Peace Corps Application Status Update

That was the subject line of an email I received this morning. Actually, I knew it was coming! Yesterday, I got a call from my Placement Specialist. We talked for about a half hour. She asked me some of the same questions I was asked when I interviewed in April. She wrapped up our conversation by telling me she was going to qualify me and based on our conversation, my bio, and my availability to serve, select my placement. Gulp!

So, I’m on the home stretch. She said they will get back to me within the week.

Dear friends and family members who are reading this: Don’t worry, you will not find out about my placement via this blog!! I will call you!

Complete. Peace Corps has completed your placement review. There are no holds on your account at this time. 🙂

Congratulations! I think we got our medical clearances within a day or two, so I’m extra jealous of your invitation. I was told it would be at least another 2-3 weeks before my placement interview. Reading about other applicants getting their invitations makes it both harder and easier to be patient.

  2. Lew says:

    That is such good news!
(I will admit to being a bit envious)
    Best wishes in everything!

  3. Amaka says:

Congrats….I have been following and reading your blog since I recieved my nomination and your posts have been entertaining and comforting. You are almost there!!!

  4. Renee says:

That’s so exciting Mary! When this happened to me I wasn’t told whether I’d be sticking with my nomination area and I was sent somewhere totally different from it! The surprise will be great 🙂 Can’t wait to hear where you go!

wow – speechless- happy for you-wow

  6. Amy D. says:

Yeah! I am excited for you (and a little jealous). Did she give you any info about where and when you would be going??

    • Mary Trotter says:

She gave me no information whatsoever on the where! She did ask me how flexible I was with regard to placement location. I told her that my Recruiter did a great job in eliminating my expectations! She asked me when was the soonest I was available and I told her April 15th.

Hang in there Amy…tell me again when you applied?

      • Amy D. says:

I applied the end of August ’10, nominated in October, all clear by early Dec. – I so wanted to go to my original nominated location, but I am trusting that where ever will be great. I have not even been told when I can expect a call from placement, so I wait.
