I just reached a new milestone…I meditated for over 30 minutes and I feel wonderful. Peaceful, contented, grounded. I’m sitting quietly in my sunroom. I’ve turned off my cell phone and unplugged my home phone. The TV and radio are off. It is inordinately quiet in my neighborhood tonight. So much of our days are filled with noise that the silence can feel uncomfortable. It’s a feeling I’m trying to overcome. I try to imagine what my nights will be like when I’m away. I imagine there will be many nights just like this one – filled with silence. What will I do during those times? I’ll meditate and pray. I’ll read books and write letters. I’ll write in my journal. And sometimes I’ll cry. And I’ll remind myself why I’m there.
